COBRA
COBRA is a federal law that requires employers with 20 or more employees to offer continuing coverage to individuals who would otherwise lose their health benefits.
If you are participating in the group Medical, Dental, Vision and/or Flexible Spending Plan when your employment ends, your insurance coverage ends that same day. You will receive a mailed notice within 21 days from your last day of coverage from WageWorks of your rights to continue your insurance coverage under COBRA.
Please Note - You have 60 days to elect Cobra coverage.
How To Enroll in Cobra Coverage
The completed election form that you receive in the mail and premium payment must be returned to WageWorks/HealthEquity to begin your new COBRA coverage. You may also elect COBRA coverage online and make your electronic payment using the WageWorks COBRA website indicated below. As long as the election form and payment is returned by the deadline stated on the election form (Or enrolled online and made electronic payment), COBRA coverage will be back-dated to the first day after your active coverage ended.

If you are receiving a severance package...
Your COBRA coverage will be paid by the company per your agreement. However, you must still elect COBRA for your coverage to continue. The premium amounts may show when you elect. However, WageWorks has been notified that the company will pay your COBRA coverage per your severance agreement.
Can I use the same insurance cards that I had while still employed once I elect Cobra?
No. Your prior insurance cards will no longer show as having insurance coverage. You will receive new insurance cards in the mail once you have elected and paid for Cobra coverage.
